The Good News

In Ephesians 6:15 the Apostle Paul told believers, “For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.” The Roman soldier wore sandals with tight straps and a sole that would hold firm when the feet were planted for combat. They did not slip when pressure was applied in defensive or offensive maneuvers. In the same way the Good News gives us peace of mind in knowing God’s plan for us, resulting in confidence to stand firm in our position; shoes that do not slip.

Understanding the Good News and what it means to us individually will open our eyes to see God’s truth. Knowledge of God’s truth builds up the way we view the world around us. It empowers us with inward peace and security strengthening our position as God’s children. We then stand firmly in our position when challenged by worldly beliefs and doctrines; sometimes shaken, but not stirred away from our position as believers in Jesus Christ.

In thinking about how the Good News of God could be a useful piece of our armor, I was led to the following ideas I write about on this topic:

1. We have a loving father,

2. He has a plan for us,

3. He wants a relationship with us,

4. He wants to guide us,

5. He gives good examples to follow, and

6. He wants us to share His love
