Define Your Objectives - Third Truth

This is the fifth in a series of blogs on Truth as a part of the Armor of God. The first truth and second truth were presented in previous blogs.

The third truth is found in Colossians 3:3-4, “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.” The very being of our Christian life is founded in Jesus Christ. When we are ready to lock onto Him, we must be willing to depend upon His real truth and submit to Him in our life choices. Sometimes this means we must wait for Him to reveal it.

As I sat in the flight simulator during its automatic landing sequence, an urge developed within me which wanted to grab hold of the stick and take control. I was uncomfortable as I watched the airplane approach the carrier deck, because I wondered if all the bugs had been worked out of the computer. As it turned out I was the only one concerned. The automatic landing system faithfully trusted the signals it received as it maneuvered its way toward the ship, and then landed gracefully on the deck. All I had to do was to wait until the airplane had landed.

Many things will happen in our walk with God that we may not understand or be comfortable with. Examples are goals and plans that don't work out, or difficult family or work relationships, or the death of a loved one. These kinds of things are often difficult to understand or accept because they are out of our control. Our tendency is to want to be in control of everything and we then do what we think is needed. But when we accept Jesus Christ as lord, we must let Him be in control. We must be patient to wait on Him and depend upon Him to lead us in our walk with Him. The Bible offers sound wisdom for smooth and graceful landings in our life when it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

I can think of many times when I went through a crisis in my life. During the crisis all I could see ahead was a landing that would crash and burn. But when the crisis was over and I looked back, I realized that Jesus Christ had guided me to a successful landing. It often wasn’t the landing I had wanted or expected. But it was the landing I needed. We need to accept God’s truth as real truth and then patiently trust Him as He guides us through life; shaken not stirred.

Use the Right Sensors

These sensors are used by the automatic landing system to stabilize and guide the airplane as it flies toward the aircraft carrier.

Apply the Proper Feedback

Using the wrong feedback takes us farther away from our desired course. Using the right feedback continually brings us back on course.
